Under Currents

The exhibit Loose Leaves offers a range of art by Philadelphia artist Jeff Waring, from light and delicate watercolor studies to encrusted assemblages on wood. Waring’s art at Highwire contemplates the ephemeral. From small and portable plein air play to layered constructs of weathered and worn debris, the surfaces and images are frozen flux… an investigation of paint and process, filtered and focused by weather, terrain, and time. The show includes abstracted reflections on mountains, valleys and waterways, as well as investigations of parking lots and gutters. Sun dried, rain soaked, and well seasoned, the images often mimic natural processes in their production.

In additon to the main gallery, recent work by Lara Cantu-Hertzler is on exhibit in the back-room annex space. Lara is a recent Recipient of a Best of Show Award from Highwire’s winter Open Call exhibit.

Exhibit dates: Apr 5-28

Artist talk: April 20th @3 pm

Life experiences, intuitive processes, and curiosity drive Dganit Zauberman’s work. She searches for what is felt and tangible, along with the intangible. On the canvas, she creates a “place” – a landscape that is mostly imagined. The work aims to present an idea composed of multiple layers, exploring not only on the physical “being” of land, the form, texture, smell, and the process by which it forms, moves and erodes, but also the land as a source of emotional and psychological mood.
