Ted Mosher’s colorful, almost abstract works will be exhibited at Highwire Gallery in October. His paintings document landscapes and scenes at a far remove, one in which appearances have wandered and colors have shifted. The focus is on materiality rather than illusion, and the work starts with the admission – or proclamation – that the properties of paint are inescapable. Pigment settles and flows in its medium, forms balance across a flat surface, and our expectations of the seen world get confounded on their way to fulfillment. For this show, Mosher has added ceramic works and prints to his usual menu of oil and watercolor paintings.
The work of the members of BYO Print, a Philadelphia print cooperative, will also be shown at Highwire Gallery during the month of October.
